The Cat
You're driving home along a dark road and something runs out. You feel the bump. You stop. It's a cat, with a collar, and it's dead. There's a row of houses fifty metres back. It's half eleven at night and no one saw. You could knock on doors until you find whose it is, or you could move it onto the verge and drive off.
Do you knock?
Then ask
- What would you want the driver to do if it were your cat?
- Would a note through a door be enough, or is that a way out?
- If it were a fox instead of a cat, does anything about you change?
