Who Stays
A boat is going down. The lifeboat holds seven; there are ten of you. There's no rescue coming for days, so overloading it sinks everyone. The group looks at you to decide: an elderly doctor, a pregnant woman, a strong young man who is panicking, a child, and the rest ordinary adults, including you.
How do you decide who gets in?
Then ask
- Do you draw lots, or do you rank them by something? Say the something out loud.
- Do you put yourself in the boat?
- If you drew lots and lost, would you actually step back?
