One Second Ahead

Are you choosing, or watching?

One Second Ahead

A screen in front of you shows a live feed of your own hands, delayed by nothing, plus a small line of text that appears one second before you act. You're going to pick up either the red pen or the blue one. The text says RED. You feel like the choice is still open. You reach for blue. The text updates, one second before, and says BLUE.

Are you choosing, or watching?

Then ask

  • Would you keep trying to beat it, or stop playing?
  • Does it change anything if the screen is right about strangers but only 60% right about you?
  • Would you want one of these in your house?

The classics and some new ones. A scenario, the question it forces, and the follow-ups that make it bite.
