Five Years

What's stopping you?

Five Years

Your doctor is straightforward about it. Carry on as you are and you get about five good years fewer than you otherwise would. Nothing dramatic today, no scan to be scared of, just arithmetic. She writes down the two or three changes. You take the paper home and put it somewhere.

What's stopping you?

Then ask

  • Which of the changes is the one you already know you won't make?
  • Would you make it for a child of yours? Why is your own five years worth less?
  • What would have to happen this month for you to start?

The classics and some new ones. A scenario, the question it forces, and the follow-ups that make it bite.
