The Spare Room
Your father cannot live alone any more. There is a home forty minutes away that is clean and grim, and there is your spare room. If he moves in, you lose the room, most evenings, and the version of your house you like. If he goes to the home, he will be looked after by people who are paid to and he will know that is what happened.
